Stratford Schools Chief Placed On Leave Following Arrest

The Stratford Board of Education held a special meeting in response to the superintendent's recent arrest on a misdemeanor charge.

STRATFORD, CT — Stratford Superintendent of Schools Uyi Osunde has been placed on paid administrative leave following a recent arrest in New Haven, according to multiple reports, including News12 Connecticut.

NBC Connecticut reports the Stratford Board of Education voted 4-3 to place Osunde on leave at a special meeting on Thursday night.

Osunde was charged on Nov. 25 with second-degree breach of peace in New Haven. He was released after posting 10 percent of a $2,000 bond and is due to appear in Superior Court on Jan. 10, 2024, according to state judicial records.

Hearst Connecticut reported the arrest was in connection with a “domestic dispute.” An attorney representing Osunde told Hearst that his client denies the allegations.

Heather Borges, the school district’s current director of pupil services, will serve as interim superintendent, according to NBC Connecticut.

Stratford Board of Education Chairperson Mike Henrick told NBC Connecticut that Thursday’s decision was the first step in a review process of events that unfolded before Osunde’s arrest.
