Stratford Seeking New Deputy Fire Chief
Deputy Fire Chief Jon Gottfried resigned from the position effective Jan. 3.
STRATFORD, CT — The Stratford Fire Department is seeking a new deputy chief after the previous second-in-command for the department resigned.
Deputy Fire Chief Jon Gottfried resigned from the position effective Jan. 3, according to Human Resources Director Ron Ing. Gottfried started working for the town in 2012, after retiring from a deputy chief position in Westport, Ing said.
Mayor Laura Hoydick announced the vacancy during her report at Monday's Town Council meeting.

According to a posting on the town website, the job pays a $95,000 salary and involves overseeing department operations on a day-to-day basis.
Applicants should have a bachelor's degree in fire services management or the equivalent, plus 10 years of fire services experience including at least five years as a supervisor, or an equivalent combination of education and experience substituting one year of experience for each year of education. Applicants should also be certified in National Incident Management System Incident Command System 300 and 400, and as a fire instructor one and fire officer one.
