Stratford: Your 2014 Midterm Election Results

Here's how Stratford voted in Tuesday's election.

The results are in and Gov. Dannel P. Malloy officially won reelection Wednesday and the majority of Stratford voters cast their ballots in favor of him over challenger Tom Foley.

In Stratford, Malloy received 8,285 votes to Foley’s 7,345.

In the Third U.S. Congressional District, Rosa DeLauro claimed her 13th term with a victory over Republican James E. Brown. In Stratford, DeLauro won the vote 8,754 to 6,205.

In the 21st District State Senate race, which covers parts of Monroe, Seymour, Shelton and Stratford, incumbent Republican Kevin Kelly defeated Democrat Prez Palmer 21,731 to 10,386.

Kelly won the Stratford vote, 8,596 to 5,062.

In the 23rd District, incumbent Democrat Andres Ayala Jr. ran unopposed and received 1,279 Stratford votes.

For the 120th District in the State House of Representatives, Republican incumbent Laura Hoydick defeated Democrat Robert Bradley 5,231 to 2,665.

For the 121st District, incumbent Democrat Terry Backer defeated Republican Richard Fredette 3,893 to 1,552.

For the 122nd District, which covers parts of Shelton, Stratford and Trumbull, incumbent Republican Ben McGorty cruised to a victory over Green Party candidate Kelly Hanna and Petitioning candidate Cheryl S. Jansen.

McGorty received 5,907 overall votes while Hanna had 692 and Jansen had 428.

In Stratford, the votes went as follows: McGorty 1,278; Hanna 151; Jansen 93.

The state constitutional amendment question appeared to have failed (final numbers weren’t in as of Wednesday night), and the majority of voters in Stratford agreed with 7,632 No votes, to 6,387 Yes votes.
