Summer Theater Academy Bringing Shakespeare To Stratford

If the play's the thing for you, you'll have plenty of chances to catch a show in the coming week.

STRATFORD, CT — The Bard's work has come to life on the grounds of the former American Shakespeare Festival Theatre, where the young actors of the Shakespeare Academy @ Stratford are performing "The Winter's Tale" and "Coriolanus," according to the program's website.

The academy is a six-week summer theater program that offers 14 actors who are in high school, in college or recent graduates a chance to perform Shakespeare's work. Participants also study under instructors from programs including the Juilliard School, the Yale School of Drama and New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.

"The Winter's Tale" will be performed at 7:30 p.m. July 28 and July 30 as well as Aug. 1, Aug. 3 and Aug. 4. "Coriolanus" performances are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. July 27, July 29, July 31 and Aug. 2. as well as at 1 p.m. Aug. 3. Advance tickets are $10 and day-of tickets are free, subject to availability. The performances take place outdoors, but audience members do not need to bring their own seats. Audiences should enter American Shakespeare State Park at 1850 Elm St.
