‘Suspicious’ Man At Bus Stop Investigated: Stratford Police

Police are investigating an incident that occurred on Thursday morning.

STRATFORD, CT — Stratford Police are investigating a report of a suspicious male at a bus stop that occurred at 7 a.m. on Thursday. Police said there is no threat to any child or school.

Police said that “out of an abundance of caution,” Wooster Middle School was placed in a stay-put mode. The incident is under investigation at this time, according to police.

The student told school officials that the man asked if he went to Wooster and also if he could "help get him into the building," according to an email sent to parents.

“We also decided to cancel all afternoon and evening activities to make sure the building was secure for the remainder of the day today while the Police Department conducts their investigation in the neighborhood of where the report was made.

“At no time was any direct threat made towards any students or staff members. There was also no one that approached our building that fit the description, but we wanted to ensure the safety of all the students and staff. We can also share with you how proud we are of the student who gave us this report. Our school and community is safer because he spoke up.”
