Tax Preparer Stole Customer’s Personal Information: Stratford PD

Police say the woman used the customer's personal information to open several accounts for her personal use.

STRATFORD, CT — A Waterbury woman is accused of stealing a customer’s personal information while working as a tax preparer and using it to open two utility accounts and five credit card accounts for her personal use, according to Stratford Police. Blanca Quinones, 46, was arrested by Stratford Police on a warrant on Feb. 16 at Liberty Tax Service, located at 353 East Main St. in Waterbury, according to Capt. Frank Eannotti.

Quinones told police that she has worked at Liberty Tax Service for nine years preparing customer tax returns, according to Eannotti.

Quinones was charged with seven counts of identity theft and sixth-degree larceny. She was released after posting a $25,000 bond and is due in court on March 28, according to state judicial records.

Quinones also has five pending criminal dockets on multiple counts of first-degree forgery and larcenies, according to state judicial records.

Eannotti said the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services and the IRS have been notified of Quinones arrest.
