Teen, 18, Driving Corvette Involved In Fatal Crash In Stratford: PD

Police are continuing to investigate the fatal motorcycle crash that killed a former Stratford High School football star.

STRATFORD, CT — An 18-year-old driving a Corvette was involved in the fatal crash that killed former Stratford High School football star Markey Desruisseaux, police said in an update Thursday.

The crash happened around 4:50 p.m. on April 13 at the intersection of Main Street and West Broad Street, and involved a motorcycle and another vehicle, according to police. Serious injuries were sustained and the Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the scene, police said.

An 18-year-old Trumbull resident was driving a 1997 Corvette and heading north on Main Street and tried to make a left turn on to West Broad Street, according to police. Family members previously told News12 Connecticut that Desruisseaux was struck by a car that tried to turn the wrong way down a one-way street at Main and West Broad streets.

Police said Desruisseaux, 30, was operating his 2000 Honda VFR800 motorcycle and heading south on Main Street through the intersection and ultimately collided with the Corvette. DesRuisseaux was ejected from the motorcycle and landed several feet away from the crash, according to police.

Desruisseaux suffered life-threatening injuries and died a week later at the hospital, according to police.

“Based on the severity of the crash, and resulting death, the incident is under investigation by the Accident Reconstruction Team,” police wrote in a news release. “Charges, if any, will be pending upon completion of the investigation.”
