Teen Partially Paralyzed In Crash Visits With Stratford Responders
The girl, who was 12 at the time and suffered a broken back and lost the use of her legs, was able to walk into the station for the visit.
STRATFORD, CT — A teenager who suffered a broken back in a serious crash three years ago in Stratford recently visited with crews that responded to the scene that day.
The accident happened July 20, 2019, at River Road and Main Street, Putney. One of the families involved in the crash, stopped by to meet some of the responders who helped them that day, according to a post on the Stratford Professional Firefighters IAFF 998 union’s Facebook page.
“Kaylee Brewster was 12 at the time of the accident and suffered from a broken back which resulted in her losing the ability to use her legs,” officials wrote in the post. “After extensive surgery and physical therapy we’re happy to report that she was able to walk into our station and give the members a hug! She’s now in high school and hoping to become a nurse.

“We don’t often get closure on the emergencies we respond to, and this is an amazing success story.”
