Traffic Stop Leads to $1 Million Drug Bust in Stratford
Connecticut State Troopers and Trumbull Police seized more than 25 pounds of heroin after a man, 50, was stopped for a violation.
STRATFORD, CT — A moving violation led to a $1 million drug bust Tuesday afternoon in Stratford.
Troopers from Troop G in Bridgeport, Trumbull Police and Trumbull’s K-9 team seized more than 25 pounds of heroin after a 50-year-old man was stopped for a moving violation at about 1:30 p.m. on Route 15 North in Stratford.
State troopers were on patrol conducting motor vehicle enforcement at the time and observed a Toyota Camry commit a moving violation, according to State Police spokesman Trooper Kelly Grant.

While troopers were speaking with the operator, they were alerted to possible narcotics in the vehicle and initiated an investigation, Grant said.
A Trumbull K-9 unit responded and assisted with the investigation.

Through the course of the investigation, the Trumbull Police Narcotics Detection K-9 assisted troopers in locating 11 packages of suspected heroin within the vehicle, according to Grant.
The operator, Jose Adorno, was taken into custody and transported to Troop G where he was processed and held on bond pending his court date.
The heroin was seized and transported to Troop G where it was held as evidence.
Troopers seized approximately 12.65 kilograms (approximately 28 pounds) of heroin, which is valued at about $1 million, according to Grant.
Adorno, of Chicago, Illinois, was charged with possession of more than 1 kilogram of heroin and possession of more than 1 kilogram of heroin with intent to sell.
He was held on a $1 million bond and is due in Superior Court on Wednesday, May 18.
