Two Arrested After Drive-By Shooting In Stratford: Police

STRATFORD, CT — Two suspects have been arrested in connection to a drive-by shooting in Stratford on Thursday afternoon, according to police. Officers responded to a report of shots fired on Woodend Road near Columbus Avenue at about 3:18 p.m.

During the incident, two males on a moped shot a third male who was standing on the sidewalk, according to Capt. Frank Eannotti. (To sign up for Stratford breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

Eannotti said officers came into contact with the shooters on the moped and attempted to stop them. They eventually left the moped on Taft Street and fled on foot, according to Eannotti. Officers gave chase and eventually arrested the two suspects.

The victim was transported to Bridgeport Hospital for a non-life-threatening injury to his foot, according to Eannotti.

Police didn’t immediately disclose the names or ages of the shooting suspects.

The first suspect was charged with conspiracy to commit murder, first-degree reckless endangerment, risk of injury to a minor, break of peace, conspiracy to commit first-degree assault, simple trespass, interfering with an officer, using a motor vehicle without owners’ permission, no license, reckless operation of a motor vehicle and disobeying an officer’s signal.

The second suspect was charged with criminal attempt at murder, carrying a pistol without a permit, unlawful discharge of a firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment, risk of injury to a minor, first-degree breach of peace, first-degree assault, simple trespass, criminal use of a firearm and interfering with an officer.
