The Watermark at 3030 Park to Host American Red Cross Blood Drive
Blood donations help patients across the country in need
On Wednesday, August 5, The Watermark at 3030 Park will host an American Red Cross blood drive at the senior living community, located at 3030 Park Avenue on the Bridgeport/Fairfield town line.
The blood drive is open to the public and will be held from 1:00 – 5:45 p.m.; anyone interested in donating blood must register in advance by calling Marlane Argianas, The Watermark’s Community Life Assistant at 203-373-6288.
“We are proud to be one of 50,000 nationwide blood drive sponsors for the Red Cross and are grateful to everyone who comes out to help save a life,” said Argianas. “Too often, healthy and eligible donors don’t realize that a simple contribution can save someone’s life. Encouraging members of the community to participate in this vital service is one of the many ways we strive to give back to those in need.”
The American Red Cross supplies nearly half of the nation’s blood supply. Every day, about 40,000 blood units are needed by patients across the country. An estimated 80 percent of the blood donations given to the Red Cross are collected at mobile blood drives set up at community organizations, such as the upcoming drive at The Watermark.
The American Red Cross makes blood drives as easy and comfortable as possible for donors with a quick and simple donation process. Donors are given a mini-physical, donate one pint of blood, and are free to enjoy refreshments before going about their day.
