• Fire Forces Lockdown At Suffield Prison (patch.com) — Suffield residents may notice increased activity around MacDougall-Walker Correctional Institution after a small woodshop fire triggered an evacuation and temporary lockdown Wednesday morning. Suffield firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze in the ventilation system, and all 33 incarcerated workers in the area were medically checked with no injuries reported. Most of the prison has resumed normal operations while the affected area is cleaned and the cause is investigated.    

• CT Prison Care Changes Announced (patch.com) — State prison officials, in an announcement datelined from Suffield, detailed new leadership and medical staffing changes aimed at reducing delays in health care for people in custody across Connecticut. The Department of Correction highlighted a new commissioner, a senior medical director, and added nurses and social workers, plus expanded telehealth, specialty clinics, and preventive screenings to improve ongoing and post-release care.    

• Jury Convicts Enfield Man In Brutal Town Green Gazebo Murder (dailyvoice.com) — A man has been convicted of murdering Christopher Kennedy at Enfield’s Town Green gazebo, a case with close ties to Suffield because Kennedy grew up there before moving to Enfield. Jurors heard evidence including surveillance footage and DNA on a knife blade, and a judge will sentence the defendant in September while Kennedy’s Suffield-connected family continues to mourn.
