In 1947, the movie Miracle on 34th Street was released and became an instant classic. That same year, Lux Radio Theatre aired an adaptation of the beloved Christmastime story over the NBC radio network. This year, the Suffield Players recreate that live broadcast, complete with period costumes and live sound effects. All two dozen characters, from 7-year-old Susan to ??-year-old Kris Kringle, will be played by a versatile, multi-voiced ensemble, and the sound effects will be created live-on-stage at an old-fashioned foley table.

This production features the talents of a real life mother/daughter team: Becky and Leila Schoenfeld, playing Doris and her daughter Susan. Konrad Rogowski will portray Kris Kringle, supported by Zach Gray as Fred. The Foley Sound Effects Gal is played by multi-talented Kelly Seip. Barbara Gallow, Kate Hebert, Ken Hebert, Rayah Martin, Dana Ring, and Robert Britton complete the Holiday show ensemble.
Miracle on 34th Street will be presented as a staged reading, performed with scripts in hand, a minimum of rehearsals, and a maximum of creativity! It is also a benefit production for the group, with all donations going toward the maintenance and upkeep of the Players’ historic theatre home, Mapleton Hall. The performance will be accompanied by a Holiday Teacup Raffle, in which audience members bid on lovely baskets chock full of donated goods and gift certificates at intermission, as well as before and after the show.
