Chapter 5: Iced
The Kent Memorial Library’s 2012 adult summer reading program, Chapter 5: Iced (Diamonds! Offed!, Tall Cool Orders!) will run from June 20th through July 25th. As in previous years, there will be a free raffle for gift baskets, which patrons can qualify for entering just by reading – a book (audio or e!), the morning news, comic books – any reading, really. Each participant may enter one raffle ticket each week for the basket of their choice.

Highlighting the program will be three authors and an organizing wizard.
Hallie Ephron will kick off the entire program on June 20th at 7:00 p.m. Her latest book, a deliciously creepy tale of obsession, has been nominated for multiple awards. And, yes, she is part of the Hollywood Ephron family.
FBI insider Robert Fitzpatrick will speak on June 27th (7:00 p.m.) about his book, Betrayal: Whitey Bulger and the FBI Agent Who Fought to Bring Him Down. His scope of involvement with the FBI spanned terrorism, kidnapping, organized crime, psychological profiling, drug trafficking, and financial crimes.
Feel like you’re missing the boat? Do you want to get your life more organized? Well, here’s your chance to get started. Come hear Suffield resident Tracy McDonagh speak on organization and time management on July 18th at 7:00 p.m.
The summer reading event will wrap up on July 25th at 7:00 p.m. with Jane Haddam, author of the Gregor Demarkian mystery series. Many of her mysteries take place in Connecticut, and Ms. Haddam says she likes to intrigue her readers by evoking “the evil under the nice.” Winners of the raffle baskets will be drawn at this time.
So, whether you read stacks of books over the summer, or “No Lifeguard On Duty” signs, it’s worth a visit to the library!
The entire program is made possible by the generosity of the Friend of the Library and local businesses.
