Fawn Brought to Suffield PD Receiving Special Care
Police offer suggestions on what to do if you believe you see an orphaned wild animal.

SUFFIELD, CT - Suffield police have posted a Facebook update on a fawn brought to the police department.
"Many of you have already seen our new friend circulating Facebook. This little guy is about 2 days old and was brought to us by a concerned citizen. You'll be glad to know that DEEP arrived and safely brought this little guy to a rehab facility that specializes in fawns."
Police said the fawn wasn't necessarily abandoned.

"We'd like to remind everyone that just because the mother isn't by a fawn's side doesn't mean it is orphaned. It's actually common for the mothers to leave their babies to protect them from predators. They typically only come back to the baby during feeding time (4 times a day for approximately 15 minutes)."
Anyone finding what is believed to be a orphaned wild animal is asked to visit the DEEP website: http://www.ct.gov/deep/cwp/view.asp?a=2723&q=326228&deepNav_GID=1655.
