SUFFIELD, CT — No criminal charges will be filed against a Annie Hornish, the owner of a pit bull that attacked a 95-year-old woman who later died, according to WFSB. Instead, she will be levied two $75 fines for infractions involving the dog.

Hornish, state director of the Humane Society, is also fighting an order from the town's animal control department to euthanize the dog, The Journal-Inquirer reported.

The attack at 584 Thrall Ave. happened earlier this month. Janet D'Aleo, 95, of Enfield, was visiting Hornish's mother when the dog bit her on the lower extremities.
