• New Independent School Preparing To Open In West Suffield (patch.com) — Families in Suffield have a new education option as Hilltop Academy, a small independent nonprofit school on Mountain Road in West Suffield, prepares to open for the 2026-27 year. Founded by longtime educator and Suffield resident Gina Martin-Ryan, the school will offer project-based and outdoor learning, a hybrid program for homeschoolers, and rolling admissions for its first 15 to 18 students.
   

• UConn Students Bring Landscape Design to Connecticut Correctional Facilities (uconn.edu) — Suffield's MacDougall-Walker Correctional Institution is now part of a UConn-led effort to make Connecticut prisons healthier through better landscape design and more welcoming outdoor spaces. Landscape architecture students are redesigning courtyards, memorials, and staff areas with trees and flowers, while working closely with correctional officers and incarcerated residents to balance security needs with mental health and wellness benefits.
