Suffield Academy Welcomes 8 New Faculty Members

SUFFIELD, CT — Suffield Academy is beginning the new academic year with eight additions to its faculty and administration, including the person selected to become the school’s next head.

Casey Bobo has joined the school as head of school-elect and will work alongside current Head of School Charlie Cahn throughout the 2026-27 academic year. She will formally take over the position July 1, 2027.

Bobo spent the past four years as assistant head at Dexter Southfield in Massachusetts. She previously worked at Belmont Hill School, Brooks School, The New School and The Hockaday School.

During her first year at Suffield, Bobo will focus on admissions and development, teach an English elective and an 11th-grade leadership course, and assist with the girls’ lacrosse program, according to a school announcement.

Chris Cowell has joined the school as chief financial officer. He will oversee the business office, technology, maintenance, dining services, campus safety, summer programs and other areas of school operations. Cowell previously held the same position at The Frederick Gunn School and earlier served as director of business services at Kent School.

Stanley Dunbar is returning to Suffield Academy after spending last year at Portsmouth Abbey School. Dunbar will work in academic support, serve as a dormitory head and lead the football program. He previously coached at Suffield, Westerly High School and Portsmouth Abbey.

Two Suffield Academy graduates are also returning as teachers.

Trent Hieber, a 2022 graduate, will teach biology and chemistry after graduating from Bates College in May. He will also coach swimming and water polo and serve as a dorm parent.

Miles Henle, a 2021 graduate, will teach upper-level mathematics. Henle earned bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and computer science, along with a master’s degree, from Wesleyan University.

The other additions are Patti Ego, who will teach physics and engineering; Isaac Smith, who will teach calculus and linear algebra; and Carter Williams, who will teach precalculus and algebra.
