“This letter is to inform you that one of our middle school students brought an Airsoft gun to school. While the student showed the gun to a student on the bus, at no time was the gun out of their backpack while at school, nor did they threaten another person. Our school is committed to the safety and education of all our students. The Suffield Police Dept. and school administration quickly addressed this situation. Please discuss this incident with your children and emphasize the importance of telling a staff member or you if they see or hear of a weapon at school. We are all working together to keep our schools safe.”
Brown said at no time were students in any immediate danger. Additional services and referrals for the involved juvenile will be made as a result of the incident, he added.
