
Sadie Pauline (Pankowski) Bazyk, 97, of East Granby, passed away on Sunday May 8, 2016, at Meadow Brook of Granby with her loving family by her side.
She was born in West Suffield, daughter of the late Adam and Mikelina (Manczuk) Pankowski on Dec 10, 1918 and graduated from Suffield Academy in 1937. Sadie married Joseph Bazyk in 1938 and moved to East Granby where she raised her family. She was known as a gentle, yet strong woman who dedicated her life to the care of her family. She was thankful for the blessings of a loving family and truly appreciated the small things in life.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Joseph, in 1997, a son Ronald in 1976, her sister Mary in 2001 and granddaughter Marcie in 2014. She leaves her sons Joseph of Granby, William and his wife Janice of Marco Island, FL and Thomas and his wife Diane of Southwick, MA. She is also survived by her grandchildren Trina and her husband Edward McHugh and William and his wife Donna Bazyk, along with great grandchildren Regina, William, Morgan, Jacob, Tara and Teddy.

Her family would like to thank those who cared for Sadie over the years. Thank you to Mary and Judy for the wonderful care that allowed Sadie to stay home as long as possible. Thank you to the dedicated nurses, aides and support staff of Meadow Brook for the compassion and care you gave to her over the last thirteen years. You made her feel loved and at home. We also want to thank Masonicare Hospice for their support in Sadie’s final days. A special thank you is extended to Diane, Tom’s wife, for her tireless and loving care of Sadie for the past nineteen years.
The family will receive friends Thursday May 12, 2016 from 8:00a.m. to 9:00a.m. at the Heritage Funeral Home, 1240 Mountain Road, West Suffield, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Southwick, MA. Burial will be in St. Adalbert’s Cemetery, Enfield.
