Recent concerns about solicitors has prompted Suffield police to issue some clarification to town residents.On its Facebook page, the Suffield Police Department stated, "Town Ordinance 11-31 et. al. requires that solicitors obtain a permit from the Chief of Police. The applicants undergo a background check prior to the issuance. Town Ordinance requires that each solicitor obtain their own permit (no permits are issued in a company name). They are required to carry the permit and may go door to door between the hours of 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.Residents that have concerns about solicitors or believe that a solicitor is operating without a permit are encouraged to contact Suffield police at 860-668-3870.Photo courtesy of Suffield Police Department
