Beloved Grandmother and Retired Whelen Engineering Comptroller Passes Away
Evelyn Z. Mondani was the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Grzech) Ziobron and grew up in the Moodus section of East Haddam.

Evelyn Z. Mondani, 80, a 60-year resident of Deep River and the beloved wife of the late Paul F. Mondani, passed away on the evening of Monday, Jan. 23 at the Aaron Manor Healthcare Center in Chester. She was born in Middletown on August 13, 1931, the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Grzech) Ziobron and grew up in the Moodus section of East Haddam.
Evelyn retired from Whelen Engineering in Chester after more than 30 years of service as the company comptroller. She served as a Girl Scout Leader and had a great passion for golf, which she loved to play at Clinton Country Club where she was a member. Evelyn was an avid UCONN basketball fan.

She truly loved and enjoyed her time spent with her four beloved grandchildren. She leaves her three children, sons, Robert P. Mondani, of Norwichtown, Peter J. Mondani and his wife, Donna, of Cheshire and daughter, Carol M. Hanover and her husband, Greg, of Old Saybrook, her brother, Richard Ziobron, of Sheffield, Vt. and her four grandchildren, Peter Jr., Mark, Patrick and Allyson. She also leaves many nieces and nephews and good friends.
Evelyn's family would like to thank all of her medical professionals and home caregivers who supported her overwhelming determination to live. Visitation will be held at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main St. in Centerbrook, on Sunday, Jan. 29 from 3 to 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Jan. 30 at Saint Joseph's Church, 48 Middlesex Ave. in Chester at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the Fountain Hill Cemetery in Deep River. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Deep River Ambulance Association, P.O. Box # 274, Deep River, CT 06417.
