This Calendar is For the Birds... Literally
For the first time ever, a birds of prey rehabilitation organization located in Killingworth is selling calendars for a cause.

Donna Johnson Buckley of Sky Chaser Photography is based in the shoreline area of Connecticut. She captures beautiful photographs of nature and wildlife. She also volunteers at A Place Called Hope in Killingworth.
A Place Called Hope is a refuge for birds of prey. The organization is run solely by volunteers, she writes, and she is hoping you will help make the holidays a little brighter for the birds this year.

“To those of you who don’t know me well, I am a Volunteer at A Place Called Hope in Killingworth. It is a refuge for Birds of Prey, they are rescued, rehabilitated and ideally released. But for over 30 birds, it is their forever home since they could not be released back to the wild. It is 100% Volunteer run and our funds are from donations and merchandise — no state or federal funding!”
For the first time, A Place Called Hope is selling a calendar featuring birds of prey, many of whom are residents at the facility. All proceeds go to the birds.

One $20 calendar will feed the birds for one week, according to Buckley.
“Buy four and you feed a bird for a month and you can give them out to friends and family,” she said. “Teachers gifts! It makes a difference!”
Calendars can be purchased at Technique Printers, 36 Old Post Rd., Clinton, or by sending a check to APCH, 154 Pond Meadow Rd., Killingworth.
Checks must be written out in the amount of $20 per calendar, and $1 per calendar for shipping and handling. Be sure to include your name and address.
