The event will feature educational activities, honey tasting, farm shop specials, and an assortment of delicious European sourdough bread from BROTworkshop.
Frequently voted one of the best farm shops on the Connecticut shoreline, Down the Lane Farm is owned and operated by Greg and Maureen Alfiero who have been professional beekeepers since 1993. Over the years, they have nurtured many bee colonies and offer a carefully curated assortment of delicious natural honey and honey-related products to the local community.
Recognizing that honey and bread make a perfect pairing of flavors, Killingworth-based Cottage Bakery, BROTworkshop has partnered with the farm to incorporate honey into their artisan sourdough bread recipes, which include rye and wheat varieties.
The November 7th event will showcase:
· A wide assortment of honey, teas, honey spoons, candy, soaps, beeswax candles,
and other handcrafted gifts
· Tastings and sales of European Sourdough Rye and Wheat breads, and a preview of Brotworkshop’s Holiday Menu
· Informal Educational sessions on honey bees and the art of making sourdough bread
