Driving for Drafts - Charity Golf Tournment

The Duke Memorial Charity Golf Tournament benefiting the Connecticut Draft Horse Rescue!

Last year, CDHR rescued a neglected, emaciated Clydesdale gelding from shipping to a slaughter auction in PA. Soon after, they discovered that this horse was Duke, a former Budweiser Clydesdale. As he regained his health, Duke quickly became a local celebrity at CDHR, making appearances at events including the golf tournament and posing for pictures with visitors and Santa. Sadly, Duke passed away in May, surrounded by his loving volunteer caretakers. To honor Duke’s memory, CDHR named this annual event after him.

The event will be held on Saturday, September 17 at the Portland Golf Course. Shotgun start at 1:00pm, with check-in beginning at 12:00pm. Enjoy a grilled lunch and a buffet dinner along with raffles, auctions, and prizes. $125 per person. Sponsorships are also available ranging from $100 to $1000. All proceeds benefit the rescue horses at CDHR! Registration closes 9/12.

To sign up as a participant or become a sponsor, forms are available at www.ctdraftrescue.com or at send an email to: cdhr.golf@gmail.com.
