East Haddam School District Website
An invaluable resource to parents with plenty of information.
Hurricane Irene may have delayed things and made our lives challenging for the last week, but she didn't get the best of us. Buses are running, the schools have power and classroom teachers have lesson plans ready. Ready or not, it is time to launch into the 2011-2012 school year.
The East Haddam School Department has developed a comprehensive website, which makes it easier for communication between parents and the schools. Each school has their own websites, linked through the main site.
Each school in the district maintains specific tabs for parents and students, as well as several general information categories.

There is a tab specific to parents, on each of the school links. Information on how to enroll or update information for the ‘Alert Now’ system is posted on the link. For example, parents are directed to contact the office of the school the child attends, to enroll in the ‘Alert Now’ program, rather than calling Central Office. The alert system operates by sending both phone and email alerts to parents or guardians with information on things like school delays or cancellations.
Under the student tab for East Haddam Elementary School, parents will find each grade listed. Clicking on that link will lead you to the list of teachers. Clicking on a specific teacher will allow parents the opportunity for a virtual introduction to each teacher. Nothing replaces face to face contact and it is recommended that parents make a point of going to the school to meet their child's teacher.

School breakfast and lunch menus, curriculum guides, medical requirements, newsletters, student handbooks, district policies and procedures and a plethora of other information is all posted at the website. Links are posted to obtain sports schedules.
In essence, everything a parent would need to know, is posted on the website. If questions remain after checking the website thoroughly, parents can contact the school department.
According to the East Haddam Central Office, the best way for parents to get information is “without a doubt, the very best way to get information is to contact the particular school, directly. We don’t get the day to day updates (at the central office).”
