Children’s Librarian and Author Gayle Byrne Featured At Killingworth Library

Killingworth’s own Children’s Librarian and author Gayle Byrne will launch her latest children's book, ”Sometimes Just One is Just Right” on Sunday, April 21 at 3pm.

"My editors at Abbeville were so encouraged by the success of 'Sometimes It's Grandmas And Grandpas' they approached me to consider 'an assignment' to keep the momentum going. They wanted me to take that same gentle, reassuring voice and use it with another childhood situation - being an 'only child'.  Again, through the eyes of a youngster we get a glimpse into another unusual and yet not uncommon, family dynamic - this time, the life of an ONLY!"

Byrne's first book, “Sometimes It’s Grandmas and Grandpas Not Mommies and Daddies” won the AGHE 2012 Children's Book Award for portraying the aging population in a positive and unique light.

Byrne can usually be found reading with little ones at Killingworth Library, where she has been the Children’s Librarian for more than ten years. An award-winning educator, she previously taught English and Child Development. Byrne is an active member of Grandparents Raising Grandchildren and lives happily with her granddaughter, Jasmine, and Jazzy’s Poppy in Killingworth.

The event is free but advance sign up is encouraged. A short reception will follow the reading and book signing. Both titles will be available to purchase. Please call the library at 860.663.2000 for additional details.
