Matthew Goldman has worked as a toolmaker, a woodworker, and a land surveyor. He attended Union College in Schenectady and has taken courses in drama at URI. He has written serious drama, black comedy and farce.Β

Since July, 2005 his memoirs entitled, "From the Journals of Constant Waterman" have appeared as a semi-monthly column in "Messing About in Boats", "Good Old Boat" and "Windcheck."

He has written for numerous boating magazines and is the author and illustrator of several books. His pen and ink drawings, many of local historical sites, can be found at local shops and galleries.Β

He is a member of the Mystic Arts Association, Connecticut Authors and Publishers Association, Noank Historical Society, and Shennecossett Yacht Club.

Matthew grew up in Hadlyme, Connecticut on 100 acres where he raised a family and ran his own machine shop. During the 70's, he built an octagonal studio on an island in the Connecticut River, to which he commuted by canoe.

The Constant Waterman, recently of Mystic, keeps his sloop, MoonWind, at Shennecossett Yacht Club in Groton during the summer, and winters wet at SpicerΚΌs Marina in Noank. He can often be found restoring boats or yarning with other sailors when he is not out on the water.

Join The Friends of RathbunΒ for refreshements in our lovely garden. (Event will be moved indoors if weather is inclement.)

Matthew will be available to answer questions and to sign books following his reading.

A $5.00 donation is requested. All proceeds benefit the Library.
