Gillette Castle To Be Featured In Estuary Magazine
The East Haddam landmark will be featured in an upcoming issue.

EAST HADDAM, CT — Gillette Castle State Park will be featured in an article to be published in the Fall 2021 edition of Estuary magazine, according to a statement.
The six-page article – entitled “A Man’s Home is His Castle: William Gillette and the Seventh Sister” – focuses on the late actor's history, writings, international performances and the retirement home he built on a hilltop above the Connecticut River.
The article features photographs of Gillette Castle's interior and exterior.

The magazine's publisher, Dick Shriver, said he grew up in Connecticut and has vivid memories of visiting the site.
“Gillette Castle is a unique Connecticut treasure that continues to improve under the stewardship of the state park,” Shriver said in a statement.

Estuary promotes itself as a quarterly magazine for people who care about the Connecticut River's history, health and ecology.
Copies of the fall issue are to be mailed to subscribers' homes in early September, according to Andy Wolfe, the magazine's art and promotions director. Subscriptions may be obtained online at estuarymagazine.com, and the subscription deadline is Aug. 9, he said.
The Friends of Gillette Castle State Park is a nonprofit, all-volunteer group dedicated to the preservation, conservation and educational activities of the building and its grounds. More information may be found at www.gillettecastlefriends.org.
