Haddam-Killingworth Wins Soccer Double-Header With East Haddam

Cougars boys and girls silenced Noises soccer teams under the lights in East Haddam.

The Haddam-Killingworth Cougars walked away with double-header soccer wins Friday at the Newly dedicated Charles Boynton Sports Complex at Nathan Hale-Ray High School.

H-K's boys won 3-0. H-K's girls won 7-0.

The boys played an evenly matched first half.  Hale-Ray showed excellent ball control and solid passing, while H-K displayed aggressive midfielders and speedy forwards.  Physical play punctuated the second half.  The Cougars found their passing game and the Noises missed several goal -scoring opportunities.

Hale-Ray's girls controlled the ball in H-K's defensive third almost immediately, but once H-K moved the ball forward, their strikers showed their stuff.  H-K's first goal came six minutes into the game, their second followed two minutes later.  In spite of the Noises again dominating around the Cougar's net during the first half, the Cougars landed their third goal before the end of the half.  Second half play mirrored the first.  The Cougars landed 4 more goals with the last one an unassisted 18-yard shot by Jenny Martin.  Both boys teams play again Tuesday, September 20.  Hale-Ray (0-2) hosts Cromwell, H-K (1-1) plays in Westbrook.

Both girls teams play on September 19 when Hele-Ray (0-2) hosts Cromwell and H-K (2-0) plays in Westbrook.
