Josef’s Key to Awesomeness:  Josef recently directed his first theatrical piece with 17 cast members. What started Josef on his way to this incredible accomplishment?  In elementary school his music teacher Mrs.Mazzaferro told him to never give up his music.  She told him to keep going.  So all through elementary school he participated in chorus and choir at his church.  Then in sixth grade he tried out for his first theater opportunity.  “Once On This Island” was his first taste of musical theater and he was hooked.  He says now,  “He can’t not be doing this”.  “It is the fun of it” that keeps him going.  He sees himself always being involved with theater and singing even if it won’t be his career.  Even as he is seeking out colleges, his choices are focused on music and theater as part of his curriculum.  I asked him if he gets nervous being on stage, given all of his experience.  He states that he still gets nervous somewhat.  He has great school support, he mixes with all of the school types-jocks, popular types and such and everyone supports each other.  Being in a small school everyone really supports each other and doesn’t give negative energy toward each other.
