Question: What type of businessis Mary Kay?

Answer: Mary Kay is a skin care and cosmetics company. As an Independent Beauty Consultant, I teach skin care and makeup application at an individual appointment or at party with girlfriends in the home.  Products include skin care, skin care supplements, cosmetics, cosmetic brushes, fragrances, colognes and spa products.

Question: Why did you start your business locally? 

Answer: To make extra cash, meet new people and grow as a business person.

Question: When people think of your business, what sets you apart from others? 

Answer: The personal attention and customization for each customer. Having a Mary Kay consultant makes the experience more personal, the consultant can recommend new products the customer specifically might like based on previous purchases or comments,  delivery is specific to the customer. Also, Mary Kay consultants provide instruction regarding each product and follow-up to ensure that the customer is completely satisfied with the product and doesn’t have questions. Everything is 100% satisfaction guaranteed. It is also a worldwide recognized brand and Mary Kay has been in business for almost 50 years.

Question: What are you doing to attract and retain your customers during the economic recession?

Answer: Same thing I’ve always done. Our business tends to boom in recession times. It’s called the ‘lipstick’ factor. It is an inexpensive pick-me-up for women in a time when money is more tight. In these uncertain times, ladies are considering businesses for themselves too.

Question: What's the most important ingredient to your success? 

Answer: Being me and being totally up front and honest about my services/products.  What you see is what you get.

Question: Where would you like your business to be in five years?  

Answer: I am currently a new Director in Mary Kay as of June 1, 2011. I am also a new Chevy Malibu car driver. In 5 years, I’d love to have taught 5 other ladies how to become a director and be driving the coveted Mary Kay pink Cadillac.
