Local dance studio receives “More Than Just Great Cheer” affiliation
Cheer and tumbling classes for ages 2 and up now offered at The Dance Corner in Killingworth.
The Dance Corner has been accepted into the More Than Just Great Cheer international affiliation program, aligning the studio with a higher standard of cheer and tumbling instruction as well as management principles.
More Than Just Great Cheer is a community of dance studio and cheer gym owners committed to providing more than excellent cheer and tumbling instruction. Founded by Amber Brackett and Lindsay Roberts, the MTJGC license is based on the same principles as More Than Just Great Dancing which serves more than 180 studios worldwide.
The approach places the customer at the center of the dance studio or cheer gym world and equips affiliates to transform staff teaching and leadership skills, provide quality programs and curricula, employ best management practices and have a positive impact on their communities.
As the only studio in the area to receive this license, The Dance Corner principals may join other industry leaders in web seminars and teleconferencing discussions as well as connect with other studio and gym owners to share ideas, drive industry innovations and address challenges.
A Cheer and Tumbling mini-camp for ages 4-6 is being offered at The Dance Corner on Wednesday, 7/19 from 9:30-11:00am. Children will learn some basic tumbling skills and cheer motions as well as a special cheer routine to perform for parents at the end of the camp. The Dance Corner is also offering several Cheer and Tumbling classes for students ages 2 to 18 this fall. Tutus and Tumble for little movers ages 2 ½- 4 years is offered on Thursday afternoons starting in september. Cheer classes start at age 4 with Mini Cheer and Tumble on Wednesday afternoons this fall. The Dance Corner offers cheer programs for up to age 8 and hopes to expand and offer competition opportunities in the near future. The Dance Corner was founded in 1994 in Killingworth, CT and today provides Dance, Cheer and Tumbling to more than 275 students ranging from 14 months to adult. The Dance Corner is dedicated to providing its students with a well-rounded education in all facets of dance, tumbling and cheer. Their classes are designed to increase confidence, build self-esteem and develop coordination in an interactive, group environment.
