Meet New London's Ghosts at "A Hempsted Halloween"

Come see New London's oldest house at twilight, talk with the ghosts and make s'mores over an open fire.

Meet the ghosts of eight New Londoners with ghoulish stories to tell as the Hempsted Houses celebrate Halloween from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at 11 Hempstead St., New London.

Staff members and local students who performed at the site this summer will tell the stories of a sailor who died at sea, a smallpox victim, a patriot who died at the Battle of Fort Griswold, a woman who was hung on Gallows Lane for allegedly killing her baby, a woman who died when her skirt caught fire while cooking, and others.

Visitors can see New London’s oldest house at twilight, talk with the ghosts and also make s’mores over an open fire.
