Students at East Haddam Elementary School enjoy a day of outdoor fun and games.

Due to heavy rains on Tuesday, Field Day activities at the elementary school in East Haddam were delayed to Wednesday.  For children in grades K-3, teachers and their parents, it was well worth the wait.

Wednesday turned out to be a beautiful sunny day with temperatures just right for outdoor activities. Wet sponge tosses, egg-carrying relay races, tunnel crawls and brightly colored parachute games were a big hit with the kids, just to name a few of the day's activities.

The teachers seemed to secretly enjoy tossing wet sponges at the kindergarten and first grade classes, while the students scurried to catch them.

After the outdoor fun, kindergarteners returned to the classroom to present fathers in attendance with their Father's Day gifts they made in class. Others, will take the gifts home to be presented.

The older grades even enjoyed a hot lunch of hot dogs and hamburgers on the lawn, in old-fashioned Field Day style.
