Rachel’s Challenge Comes to Nathan Hale-Ray Middle School

Rachel’s Challenge, a nationally-recognized powerful school bullying and violence prevention program, was presented today to students and staff at Nathan Hale-Ray Middle School. Rachel Scott was the first person killed in a shooting spree at Columbine High School on April 20, 1999.

The school presentation featured a one-hour video presentation designed to motivate students to foster respectful and caring relationships with others. Following the presentation, trained adult facilitators conducted a 90 minute training interactive session with students. An evening program is also being offered to parents and interested community members at 7:00 PM at the middle school gym.

Funding and support for the program comes from Mrs. Toni McCabe of East Haddam Youth and Family Services and from MPAC, the middle school parent advisory council.

According to a media release for the program, the program has been presented to over 15 million people as well as being featured nationally on television shows such as CNN, Fox News, The Today Show, Good Morning America, and Oprah.
