Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued As Severe Storms Forecast For July 4th Weekend
Here is an updated timeline on when to expect strong-to-severe thunderstorms during the upcoming 4th of July weekend in Connecticut.
CONNECTICUT — The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook in advance of Saturday, as the odds are increasing that there will be strong-to-severe thunderstorms on Saturday afternoon and evening.
"A cold front will bring strong to severe thunderstorms to the area on Saturday," the weather service wrote Thursday.
In his forecast for WTNH News 8, chief meteorologist Gil Simmons wrote: "Some of these storms (on Saturday) could be severe, with hail & strong wind gusts." He noted that the storms could impact planned fireworks shows across the state.

The weather service said that the rain and storms may linger into Sunday morning, but then the sun should reappear by the afternoon and better weather continues for the remainder of Sunday and Monday.

Saturday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. High near 83. Southwest wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Saturday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before 2am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2am. Low around 67. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
