Sod Story: HK Field Hockey Team Wants Sod Money [Video]

The HK field hockey team has asked the RSD 17 Board of Education to reinstate 2012-2013 budget funds for sod.

Team members and supporters of the  Field Hockey team made an appearance at the RSD17 Board of Education meeting on Tuesday to express their request to re-instate the monies needed to replace sod on the playing field.

According to the proposal, the concern "is that the field’s current condition is rendered ineligible by the CIAC Field Hockey Committee for State Tournament games."

As such, supporters and team members "would like to ask the board of education to put the cost of installing and maintaining sod for the field back into the 2012 Budget." The sod would allow the field hockey team to be able to have home state tournament games and regain the “home-field” advantage.

The team has qualified for this distinction 31 times in the past 35 years.
