State Awards $275K For Killingworth, Westbrook Projects

KILLINGWORTH, CT — A state Neighborhood Assistance Act grant of $275,000 will go toward local projects, according to a statement from State Representative Christine Goupil (D-Clinton/Killingworth/Westbrook). The act's programs focus on energy conservation and land preservation.
"I’m thrilled to support any initiative on energy efficiency both at the household and business level to reduce air and water pollution," Goupil said in a statement. "This creates a healthier natural environment, saves money and creates jobs in our community."
The Killingworth Land Conservation Trust requested $70,000 and received a 60 percent credit for land acquisition. The Killingworth Library Association requested $24,750 for energy efficient lighting for the parking area (100 percent credit).

Energy conservation was the focus of two projects in Westbrook, including First Congressional Church of Westbrook, which requested$35,000 and the Valley Shore YMCA, which received $150,000 for energy conservation upgrades.
The Connecticut Neighborhood Assistance Act (NAA) Tax Credit Program provides funding for municipal and tax-exempt organizations with a corporation business tax credit for making cash contributions to these entities.
