Is sustainability a realistic goal, or a progressive pipe dream?
Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage is a sustainable living demonstration project, where residents are living rich, full lives using about 10% of the resources (and emitting about 10% of the carbon) of the average American. This talk introduces the model of ecovillages, but also discusses the principles one can apply to their own lives and home communities.

Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage, founded in 1997 in Missouri, has created one of the foremost “SLD” projects in the nation, and its impact is steadily increasing. This village of 60 children and adults is demonstrating social and physical technologies that have cut residents’ ecological impact by 90% compared to the average American. Through conservation, efficiency, re-localization, cooperation, and alternative technologies, Dancing Rabbit is showing that people can live rich, vibrant lives while leaving an ecological footprint that our planet can sustain.
Ma’ikwe Ludwig is the executive director of Dancing Rabbit Inc, the nonprofit arm of Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage. She is a pioneering sustainability educator who heads up Ecovillage Education US, and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Fellowship for Intentional Community.

Q and A will follow the talk.

Nathan Hale Ray High School Auditorium.

Doors open at 5:30; presentation begins at 6:15.
