Violation of a Protective Order, DUI, Breach of Peace

East Haddam & Moodus area police activity reports.

The East Haddam Police and the Connecticut State Police, Troop K in Colchester report the following incidents:


EVADING THE SCENE OF AN ACCIDENT
- On April 16 at approximately 1:33 p.m., a resident of Ballahack Road # 2 in East Haddam contacted Troop K to report that a truck with a boom had impacted some overhead wires on the roadway. The complainant said that the operator of the 2003 Kenworth T-800 got onto the boom, untangled the wires and then left the scene. The incident caused phone and cable wires to hang over and onto the roadway, and the road had to be closed for a period of time. Based on a photo taken by the witness, police were later able to locate the truck on Lakeside Drive in East Haddam. The operator of the truck, Leo Valiquette, Jr., 56, of Arlington Street, Meriden was issued a misdemeanor summons for Evading Responsibility/Property Damage and is scheduled to appear at Middletown Superior Court on 5/27/15.

MOTOR-VEHICLE VS. TREE - On April 22 at approximately 6:06 p.m., Justin Goodreau, 26, of Waterhole Road, East Hampton was traveling northbound on Tater Hill Road, in the area of Clark Hill Road in East Haddam, operating a 1995 Toyota Celica. Police said that Goodreau’s front tire blew out, causing him to lose control of his vehicle. The vehicle reportedly veered across the roadway into the southbound lane of travel and collided with a berm. This caused the vehicle to begin to roll over, subsequently colliding with a tree along the roadside. Police said that Goodreau appeared to have minor injuries, but he refused medical attention on the scene. The vehicle’s airbag had deployed, and the car had to be towed from the scene due to disabling damages.
