1 Charged After Stolen Car Crashes In East Lyme
A juvenile is facing charges after crashing a stolen car in East Lyme.
EAST LYME, CT — One person was charged after crashing a stolen car in East Lyme, according to police. A 16-year-old juvenile from New Haven was charged with first-degree larceny and interfering with police.
East Lyme police received a call Sunday at 3:49 a.m. from a Fairhaven Road resident who believed that people were attempting to break into his vehicle. A responding officer found two vehicles pulled to the side of the road on Black Point Road.
The two vehicles fled when the officer approached.

The officer pursued and saw that one of the cars had crossed over Pennsylvania Avenue, striking the rock facing at the intersection with Chapman Farm Road. The car's occupants fled into the woods nearby.
A K9 unit from Norwich police came to assist. Police found one person, believed to be the driver, who was taken into custody. The crashed vehicle had been stolen from Guilford.

The second car was found abandoned on a nearby dead-end street and had been stolen from a Niantic home, police said.
The case remains under investigation.
