19-Year-Old Lyme Man Arrested After Threatening Snapchat Post

The post was perceived to be about Lyme-Old Lyme High School, prompting parents and students to alert authorities.

LYME, CT — A 19-year-old Lyme resident was arrested on a charge of second-degree breach of peace Tuesday after he sent a Snapchat post to several Lyme-Old Lyme High School students that was perceived to be threatening, according to Connecticut State Police.

Arrested was Victor Farrell, of Honey Hill Road, who is not a student at the school.

"After receiving the SnapChat story, several students and parents were alarmed at the implications of the posting," wrote state police in a release. "Several parents and students felt that the message could have been referring to Lyme-Old Lyme High School and contacted the Superintendent, in addition to police."

The content of the message was not disclosed, but state police said that Farrell claimed that "the posting was inadvertently sent to multiple persons and had no ill intent."

He was released after posting a $500 surety bond and is scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court on April 5.

"Connecticut State Police, Old Lyme Police and Lyme-Old Lyme Region 18 School District is committed to keeping our youth and schools safe," wrote state police. "We encourage anyone to come forward when confronted with disturbing behavior [whether] in person or through social media."
