OLD LYME, CT — A motorcycle and bicycle collided Thursday evening in Old Lyme leaving two people injured, according to state police.

A Kawasaki motorcycle was passing a bicyclist on Shore Road at the intersection of Ferry Road when the bicyclist drifted into the southbound lane and was struck, state police said. The bicyclist flipped over the handlebars and landed in the northbound lane.

The motorcyclist, a Wethersfield man, lost control when he swerved to avoid the accident and fell off his motorcycle.

The bicyclist, a Higganum man, was transported by Life Star to Yale New Haven Hospital for treatment of what police described as a minor head injury.

The motorcyclist was transported to Middlesex Hospital Shoreline for treatment of minor arm abrasions.

There were no life-threatening injuries.
