East Lyme Youth Services mission is to foster the positive development of youth by providing and/ or coordinating preventative, remediative, educational, social, and service opportunities for young people and support for their families.
All checks should be made out to "Town of East Lyme" and can be mailed to Youth Services or dropped off at the Parks and Recreation offices 8-4 p.m. M-F.

NEW!! After-School Program Monday through Friday 3:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Youth join us after school in the Youth Center for fun and games such as ping pong, Wii, movies, basketball, air hockey, Foosball, in a fun and safe environment. Our experienced, yet youthful staff will serve as positive role models, while maintaining a fun, and relaxed atmosphere for youth to unwind after a long day. Cost is $45/ week or $10/ day. Additional time available for scheduled half-days. Only 35 slots so hurry to get your spot! Late bus available.
Jeffrey's Rainbow Run: 9/7/12 @ 6:00 p.m. (Registration starts at 5:00 p.m.) We are proud to be hosting a 5k and family-friendly carnival to benefit the Bourgeois family of Salem, who lost their son, Jeffrey, in a tragic accident. ELYS and EL Parks and Recreation , along with volunteer coordinators, local businesses, are all pitching in to help raise money as they heal from their traumatic loss. With registration, the first 500 participants will receive Jeffrey's Rainbow Run t-shirts and admission into the family-friendly carnival. Adults over 14: $20 Pre-Registered, $25 race day Youth: $5 pre-registered, $10 on race day. The run will start and end at McCook Point Park in Niantic.

Sitter Survival: Mondays 3-4 p.m. 10/15-11/26/12, and 3-6 p.m. on 12/3 and 12/10 for CPR and First Aid Certification. Cost is $75 for 8 weeks of instruction, including CPR and First Aid instruction. Olive Chendali room in the Community Center. late bus available.
Home Alone: Tuesdays in the Olive Chendali room in the Community Center 10/9/12 - 11/20/12. Youth get knowledge and empowered to stay home on their own. Recommended for 5th and 6th graders.Cost is $45, late bus available.
Student Planning Association: Wednesdays throughout the school year 3-4 p.m. starting 9/5. Youth hang out and plan large-scale community service projects. Fall's project is the Annual Haunter House, taking place o 10/26 at the Smith Harris barn this year! Cost for SPA is $15/month. Late bus is available.
The Annual ELYS Haunted House! Smith Harris House Barn October 26 from 6-10 p.m. Let us scare you for a good cause! All proceeds go to charity.
NEW!! Cooking 101: Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. October 13th - November 17th. Let Joe and Rita Palazzo teach your kids about cooking, the old fashioned way! Parents please take note: Youth should be mature and responsible, as they will be handling knives, cutting boards, and the stove. Youth should bring Tupperware to each class to bring home goodies. 6th graders and up are recommended. Class will be held in the Community Center's Main kitchen. Entrance on the Senior Center side of the building. $50
Mountain Bike Club: Saturdays 9/22/12- 10/29/12 Meet at Niantic Bay Bicycles for expert-guided trail rides. Middle school: 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. High School: 11:15 a.m. - 1 p.m. Participants should have working bike with front and rear brakes, helmet, a fix-a-flat kit, and bring plenty of water. Cost is $50 and included a safety check on participant's bike on the first day.
High School: Student Advisory Board (SAB) A service club for high school students to plan activities for their peers that are fun and drug and alcohol free, as well as promote healthy and good decision making skills. Last year, SAB was instrumental to the newly adopted smoking ban in all East Lyme Parks and Beaches, as well as planning a flash mob, a PSA, and attending trainings and field trips to support their mission. Meetings are held in Mr. Beale's room every Tuesday during lunch.
Volunteering/ Working for the Youth Center: If you are interested in Volunteering or working for the Youth Center, love kids, and are kind, compassionate, organized, and a hard worker, we may have an opening for you. Please contact Sarah for more information.
