The Lyme Old Lyme Education Foundation has announced their latest grant for $5,000 bringing the total value of LOLEF grants awarded to date to just over $100,000

The Lyme Old Lyme Education Foundation (LOLEF) has announced its latest grant for $5,000 bringing the total value of LOLEF grants awarded to date to just over $100,000.

“We are pleased to support this community-based after-school enrichment workshop because of the innovative approach that Bring Our Music Back provides to enhancing music programs currently offered to middle school aged children,” said Rosemary Barclay, a member of the LOLEF Grants Committee.  “The interesting mix of lectures, hands-on musical instruction and performance will provide these kids with a unique opportunity to work with a variety of community based professional artists while gaining a greater appreciation of music heritage and performance techniques.”

It is this type of innovative approach that the LOLEF is looking to support as it widens their grant-making criteria.

The six-week program will take place at BOMB’s Songbird Coffeehouse and Café and will give students a basic knowledge of the Music Heritage of Blues Jazz, Rock, Folk and R&B, with demonstrations of each by master teachers in the musical arts. Students will also get an introduction to songwriting and journaling.
