Friends of Fort Trumbull cancel their April program
Look for updates on this series celebrating Women's Suffrage

The Friends of Fort Trumbull are disappointed to have to cancel their April program. The 2020 series focuses on Struggles and Achievement as we celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Women’s Suffrage in the United States. Our April 30th speaker was to have been Sheryl Faye, who portrays Abigail Adams who played a role in the struggle for women’s suffrage from the founding of the country in 1776. While John Adams was in Philadelphia working on creating this new government, his wife, Abigail Adams wrote him to please “remember the ladies” in the “new code of laws”.
The Friends will continue to work closely with the Fort Trumbull Ranger, Henry Alves. We will inform our members and lecture participants as we receive information from the State as to the situation with the Fort Trumbull Conference Center.
Women like Abigail Adams waited 125 years before the passage of the 19th Amendment granting women the right to vote. We can wait a few months to honor their struggle.
