Old Lyme, CT –The Old Lyme-Phoebe Griffin Noyes Library hosts a presentation by author Wick Griswold on September 17, 2014 at 7:00 pm.

Griswold Point, nestled at the mouth of the Connecticut River, boasts a rich history deeply intertwined with America’s own. Since 1640, when Matthew Griswold I was granted the land by Colonel George Fenwick, many prominent Americans have called The Point home. In 1798,

From colonial governors and judges to adventurers and sea captains, denizens of The Point have played key roles in America’s history. Join local author Wick Griswold as he uncovers the history of Griswold Point in Old Lyme, Connecticut. Wick will entertain questions. Copies of the book will be sale.

Wick Griswold is an Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of Hartford. His signature course is the Sociology of the Connecticut River Watershed. He also authored “A History of the Connecticut River” He works with regional and national organizations on environmental educational issues. In past lives he has been a commercial fisherman, a boat deliverer, truck driver, dock worker, short order cook, non-profit administrator and a few other things. He is Commodore of the Connecticut River Drifting Society.
