ID Of Body Found In CT River Released

The man whose body was found in the Connecticut River earlier this month has been positively identified as a missing 63-year-old from Massachusetts.

The state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined the victim was Donald Plasse, 63, of Holyoke, Mass.

The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection’s Environmental Conservation Police announced the positive identification on Monday.

A vessel reported seeing a body in the river in the area of the Chester-Hadlyme Ferry on May 9.

EnCon police and Connecticut State Police responded to the scene, along with the Lyme and Chester Fire Departments.

Connecticut investigators were able to match known records to an individual reported missing in Massachusetts, police said. They worked with Massachusetts State Police, who provided records which helped the medical examiner identify the victim.

Plasse went missing on January 13 following an incident near the Connecticut River in South Hadley, Mass., police said.

An investigation is ongoing.
