Home Invasion Arrest Made In Lyme

A man armed with a hammer broke into a woman's house and took her possessions, police said.

LYME, CT — State Police troopers made an arrest after a reported home invasion in Lyme on Sept. 21.

The homeowner reported that a man with a scruffy beard and hammer entered the home, pushed her down and ran out of the house with her cellphone, police said. He also managed to take money during the incident from the victim's purse.

Troopers responded to the area and found an unoccupied 2003 GMC Sierra parked at a nature preserve off of Town Woods Road in Old Lyme. The vehicle belonged to Christopher Levesque, 39, of Gales Ferry.

A K-9 unit was called in to help search the area. An off-duty Old Lyme officer who heard about the home invasion spotted a man matching the suspect's description and alerted troopers to his presence, police said.

Troopers surrounded the man and took him into custody. He was found to be in possession of money that was similar to the amount and denominations taken during the home invasion. The victim's phone was located in the woods about a quarter mile from her residence.

Levesque was charged with home invasion, first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, third-degree larceny and disorderly conduct.
